NEET 2025 Result Update
NEET 2025 Result
NEET 2025 result was declared on June 14, 2025. NTA has declared the NEET UG 2025 result in online mode, in two forms: merit list and scorecard. While the NEET 2025 merit list will be available on the official NTA NEET website, which is www.neet.nta.nic.in, for everyone to view, the NEET 2025 scorecard is available only to the test-takers, who will have to download it by logging in with their credentials.
According to the MP High Court hearing, led by Justice Subodh Abhyankar of the Indore bench, NTA should conduct a re-test for the affected candidates at the exam centres which faced a power outage. Even though NTA declared the NEET 2025 result as per the schedule, the court emphasised ensuring a fair test for all. However, only those candidates who filed petitions before June 3, 2025, will be considered for the NEET 2025 re-exam.
Out of 22,09,318 candidates who had appeared for the exam, 12,36,531 candidates have qualified. Mahesh Kumar from Rajasthan has secured AIR 1 with 99.99 percentile. Utkarsh Awadhiya from Madhya Pradesh has bagged AIR 2. Avika Aggarwal from Delhi (NCT) is the female topper of NEET 2025 with AIR 5. The highest marks obtained is 686 out of 720. Along with the NEET result 2025, the NEET 2025 cutoff has also been released, which has reduced from last year, as per predictions.

NEET Result 2025: Tie-breaking Protocol
What happens when two or more candidates secure the same marks in the NEET UG results? Owing to a large number of test-takers, it is not rare for two or more candidates to secure the same marks in this examination. However, such candidates will not share the same rank on the NEET merit list. Hence, NTA has a tie-break mechanism in place for such situations. The NEET 2025 Tie-Breaking criteria have been changed by NTA. The following parameters are considered in the case of tie-in scores:
- Candidate obtaining higher marks/percentile score in Biology (Botany & Zoology) in the Test, followed by,
- Candidate obtaining higher marks/percentile score in Chemistry in the Test, followed by,
- Candidate obtaining higher marks/percentile score in Physics in the Test, followed by,
- Candidate with less proportion of the number of attempted incorrect answers and correct answers in all the subjects in the Test,
- Candidate with less proportion of a number of attempted incorrect answers and correct answers in Biology (Botany & Zoology) in the Test, followed by
- Candidate with less proportion of a number of attempted incorrect answers and correct answers in Chemistry in the Test, followed by
- Candidate with less proportion of a number of attempted incorrect answers and correct answers in Physics in the Test, followed by
- In case, the first seven criteria are exhausted and the tie still persists, it will be resolved through a random process with the guidance of an independent expert committee.
Till 2022, NTA considered factors like candidates older in age and application number in descending order. These criteria have been removed for NEET 2023.
NEET 2025 Result and Merit List
NTA releases the merit list of the candidates based on the NEET result. Multiple lists are released based on the category of the candidate. An overall NEET merit list is also released, which carries details of all the candidates who cleared the examination. The merit lists of NEET are then shared by the NTA with the different bodies responsible for the NEET counselling process for national and state quota seats. Based on these lists, MCC and various counselling authorities will prepare their merit or seat allotment lists.
Types of Merit Lists
Overall merit list: This merit list includes the names and ranks of all the candidates who appeared for NEET. This is the first merit list and is prepared by NTA. This merit list will be forwarded to all counselling bodies, both national and state.
15 per cent AIQ merit list: This merit list will contain the names of only those candidates who would qualify for the NEET UG result. This merit list is prepared by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC).
State quota merit list: Every state will prepare its counselling merit lists for admissions to 85 per cent of state quota seats. These merit lists will include only those candidates who will qualify for NEET result 2025 and register for the counselling of that respective state.
Validity of NEET Result 2025
The validity of the NEET 2025 result depends on where the candidate wants to apply. Candidates who wish to pursue an MBBS from a foreign University will also have to qualify for NEET 2025. The validity depends on the location of the institute one desires to apply.
NEET result validity for an institute located in India: For aspirants who wish to apply for MBBS courses within India, the NEET UG result will be valid for the current academic session only.
NEET result validity for a foreign university: For aspirants who wish to apply for MBBS courses outside India, the NEET result 2025 is expected to be valid for three years.
What after NEET 2025 Results?
Candidates who qualify for NEET are eligible to participate in the counselling process, conducted at both the national and state levels. The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) conducts national-level counselling for admission to the 15% All India Quota (AIQ) seats.
The admission process begins after the announcement of NEET results. Once the results are declared, candidates receive their All India Rank (AIR), which helps them determine their chances of admission to various medical colleges. Using tools like the NEET College Predictor, candidates can get a list of colleges they are eligible for based on their rank.
It is advisable to research the shortlisted colleges in advance — check their cut-off trends, infrastructure, and fee structure through official college websites. Being well-prepared with a list of preferred colleges can significantly ease the counselling process and improve your chances of securing admission to a desirable institution.
